Perhaps marking the first time in history that production on a post-apocalyptic film has been thwarted by an improvement to the local environment. The rain turned the area into an oasis instead of the post-apocalyptic terrain that is the setting for Max’s world. Originally slated to be shot in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, the production was forced to relocate due to severe flooding, rendering the Australian landscape unsuitable for the film. Shooting on Mad Max: Fury Road is taking place in Africa with the support of the Australian government.
Fury Road is currently shooting in Africa, not Australia, and there’s a perfectly legitimate, almost unbelievable explanation as to why they had to relocate: There was another bit I found interesting from the press release. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers. Miller also produces the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar ® nominee Doug Mitchell (“Babe”, “Happy Feet”), and P.J. Miller is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Keays-Byrne played Toecutter in the first Mad Max by the way. The cast is rounded out by well-known Australian actors John Howard, Richard Carter, supermodel Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.

It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. So it seems that no matter which way you cut, Charlize Theron is in charge. It’s also the Latin root word for Emperor. As Bleeding Cool points out, the term Imperator began in Ancient Rome as an honorary type title for a military commander. Try saying “Imperator Furiosa” thee times fast.
